Creating New Pilots
When creating a new pilot, you will now have the ability to choose a “Start Year” for the pilot as shown below. The choice of Start Year has two effects:
- Determines the number Experience Points (XP) that the pilots begins with. For example, choosing a 1941 Start Year results in the pilot starting with 200 Cumulative XP (but will have 0 Available XP).
- Determines the “XP Factor“, which is the value multiplied by any XP gained during a mission. To continue the example, choosing a 1941 Start Year results in an XP Factor of 0.90. If this pilot flew a mission and scored 10 XP, he would only be awarded 9 XP.

This new XP Factor will show up in the Manage Pilots screen, and on the screen where you choose a pilot for a dogfight as shown below:

Wingman Deck
A previous enhancement had created a separate deck for wingmen. That deck had certain “In My Sights” cards removed as compared to a normal deck. The idea was to reduce the number of attacks that the wingmen were making, and to increase the probability of drawing defensive cards. The unintended consequences of this approach was that the attack cards that remained in the deck were more deadly and actually had a higher probability of being drawn.
In order to address this problem, the wingman deck is being modified as follows:
- No cards are being removed from the deck.
- The following cards are being added to a “normal“ deck:
- Ace Pilot (x1)
- Barrel Roll (x4)
- Half Loop (x1)
- Maneuvering (x5)
- Scissors (x2)
- Tight Turn (x4)
- Vertical Roll (x2)
As you can see, all of the cards being added are either defensive or used to improve position. This should have the desired effect of reducing the probability of drawing attack cards, and increasing the probability of drawing defensive/positioning cards. |
